Liz - I bow in deep respect to your life’s journey and the honesty with which you offer it. The way you speak to the interconnectedness of depression related to mind, body, and spirit resonates deeply with me.
That said, it’s taken me decades to begin to understand stories like yours beneath the surface of my own living, if that makes sense.
It sounds to me like you’ve earned a hard won wisdom when it comes to recognizing depression and learning how to meet it in relation to what stands a chance of helping you contend with it and offset it where you ar able. I know how difficult that kind of learning can be. Thank you for sharing part of what you’ve been through and what you’ve come to know.
Thank you Dr. Bronce. Your words of encouragement are greatly appreciated. This piece was one of the hardest ones to face, and write about.
It's interesting to me how it takes a lifetime, it seems, to understand the complexity of our selves, the trauma we've endured and how it negatively affects us in all areas.
Yes, your comment makes sense to me. Thank you for sharing from your heart. I'm happy this resonated in some way with you. It makes my effort of writing about my healing journey, and sharing about it, worth it!
I’m so inspired by your strength and resilience in overcoming depression. Your journey shows how powerful healing and hope can be, even in the darkest times. Thank you for sharing your story, it gives others courage to keep going. Keep shining your light.
Your sad and heart wrenching story is beautifully written and covers all the optional paths we have to get relief. I led a Christian clinic for 30 years and we saw many people in despair who suffered deeply from the pain of depression. In many instances the lack of wise support from Christians made things worse.
I have come across several biblical approaches that seem to consistently help people battle against the terrible intrusions of ANTs. Automatic Negative Thoughts that stimulate additional depression.
Thank you for sharing so boldly. May God continue to bless you with peace.
Thank you for standing with so many others that have gone through the debilitation that comes with depression.
Will you please share the biblical approaches that you have learned? I'm eager to learn as much as I can about this topic. You can send me a personal message.
I have written books about my approach. I am currently upgrading my ideas for use in my Zoom classes. I may be able to send you an e-book. I will check with my publishing team. Relationalpeace.org
"Turn my wailing into dancing"... what a beautiful prayer Liz. Not to mention this whole article written with love from your heart and understanding. I have also been there and it did NOT help when it was like "pray" because I felt ashamed to feel this way. Well, nothing. God shows us the light again within us when we break through depression and takes us to a higher worthy dimension. I truly believe this having been through it.
Thank you for your courage and strength, Liz, to share the real, honest, and hard realities that depression entails. That had to be incredibly difficult to open up about your personal life so vulnerably, yet your bravery in sharing lets others know they are not alone in their struggles. There is hope and light. Everyone needs to be reminded of that, and with God’s amazing love and grace, all things are truly possible.
I look forward to reading your blog posts every time you post. It creates a safe space for me and a hope for my own healing. It is a breath of fresh air to read your posts. Thank you ☺️ <3
Thank you for your vulnerability and the powerful truth you’ve shared. I deeply resonate with so much of what you wrote—the heaviness, the questions, the quiet cries for help.
Your story is a living testimony of God’s grace in the darkest places!!! The way you held on, even when it didn’t make sense, is incredibly brave.
You are living proof that healing is possible—and your voice is a lifeline for others still in the storm.
Keep shining His light. You’re not alone. God bless you sister 🤎
Bria, thank you so much for sharing this. It means so much to me to hear of others, like yourself, who have suffered through this tremendous pain. You give me hope and courage to continue to share.
May God use this testimony for His glory. We all need healing of some sort. I’m honored to be His vessel.
